However, some governments and organizations are pushing to weaken encryption, which could set a dangerous precedent that threatens the security of billions of people around the world. Actions in one country that undermine encryption put all of us at risk.
On Global Encryption Day, we call on governments and the private sector to reject efforts to weaken encryption and instead pursue policies that strengthen, promote, and encourage the use of strong encryption to protect people everywhere. We also support and encourage companies’ efforts to protect their users by implementing strong encryption in their services and platforms. Strong encryption is a vital tool for a safer world for us all.
